Forget the long-term weather forecast, Spring/Summer 2010 in London is looking set to be a sizzler thanks to the opening of two hot new hotels and the refurb’ of a grand-dame. W Hotel‘s 192-room Leicester Square property, it is hoped, will regenerate the Square when it opens in June, working the same kind of magic that the brand’s hotel did in Times Square New York. Meanwhile, way out east sees the doors of the Town Hall Hotel Apartments in Bethnal Green being flung open. As well as rooms and apartments, Town Hall will feature a destination fine dining restaurant with Nuno Mendes at the burners, plus a spa and 14-metre indoor pool, all housed in the Grade II listed building.
Most exciting of all is the refurbishment and restoration of London landmark The Savoy (above). Costing over £100 million, it is one of the most ambitious hotel projects to be undertaken in the UK. Designer Pierre-Yves Rochon has had the uneviable task of redesigning this classic, but with the exquisite George V on his CV, we’re expecting beautiful things.
