Once in a while – and this is by no means a frequent occurrence – we’re overwhelmed by the sight of a new luxury resort. It’s been a busy, stressful few weeks at Resource HQ, so when images from Six Senses’ newest resort arrived, the team let out a collective sigh. Sitting beautifully on a private island to the south of the pristine Maldives archipelago, Six Senses Laamu is an eco-friendly luxury resort with exquisite and very clever design touches.
Our favourite feature – and the quirkiest touch of all (their designers must have had some fun creating these stunning huts) – are the glass baths in the Water Villas, perched out over the ocean so you can watch the marine life swim beneath you as you bathe. The Villas also boast an aquarium dining deck with glass table, so you can partake in a candlelit dinner for two as the waves lap around you.
As you’d expect from the Six Senses brand, the guest services are superlative and the resort, with its 97 villas, boasts an outdoor Jungle cinema (complete with popcorn!), guest library, gym, its own ice cream with 40 homemade flavours, plus that all-important Six Senses Spa. Opening in April, we think it’s the perfect destination to take the edge of the winter blues.
