The Modern House‘s newest listing ticks many of our design boxes: a once-industrial space converted into a lateral residential space down a quiet, cobbled mews in Tufnell Park, London.
Used as a mechanics’ workshop from the 1920s until the 1970s, the space was transformed by development company Kube in 2006. It now boasts a large kitchen/dining room, with newly-installed kitchen, reception room, four bedrooms (one with its own separate entrance from the mews – we’ve earmarked it as our office), and a bathroom.
With generous proportions, the space is flooded with light thanks to large rooflights.
Part of the Tavistock Terrace Conservation Area, this is a highly sought-after, tree-lined area of North London, with tube stations nearby at Tufnell Park and Archway. For foodies, there’s a plethora of gastropubs on your doorstep, with our favourites including The Southampton Arms, Bull & Last and St John’s Tavern.
