You Light Up My World // Cinnamon Kitchen & Dishoom

To celebrate Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, two of our favourite Indian restaurants in London will be celebrating with special, suitably-festive menus.

Cinnamon Kitchen, in the heart of the City, offers a modern, grown-up, fine dining affair and will be serving a four-course Diwali tasting menu until 22nd October. Seasonal-inspired dishes include tandoori king prawns, grilled partridge, roasted rack of lamb and Bombay spiced vegetables. As well as the special menu, there will be an evening of entertainment for those wanting to dance off their dinners. On Saturday 22nd October, once you’ve polished off four courses, head to Anise, the Kitchen’s bar and lounge, for a dusk-til-dawn evening of music and entertainment provided by Black Rock Events.

Over at Dishoom in Covent Garden, the young upstart and one of our favourite curry joints in London will be embracing this colourful and joyous celebration with a Diwali feast menu being served between 18th and 30th October. The dishes sound suitably celebratory, with the Phaldari Kofta Ruby – a dumpling stuffed with vegetables, paneer and pomegranate – and Diwali Biryani (above) catching our eye. Don’t miss the lauded Dishoom lobster tail (below) cooked with ginger, chilli, lime and coriander. Kick proceedings off with a passion fruit Diwali Bellini, and we insist that you try the signature dish of slow-cooked house black daal.
